Holtek Launches HT82V70 High-speed Double-sided CIS Module Digital Front-end Processor

Datetime:2017-08-02 11:21:46    Views:630

Holtek has launched a dedicated digital frontend processor (DFE) for its HT82V70 high-speed contact image sensor (CIS) module, which is suitable for applications such as bill validators, currency sorters, and ATMs that require currency image output or serial number reading.

The HT82V70, combined with Holtek’s Analog Front-End (AFE) IC HT82V48, can simultaneously support 2 sets of 3-6 channel CIS modules, with a maximum of 20MSPS per channel and a total performance of 12 channels at 240MSPS. The built-in Programmable Timing Generator can control the timing of the CIS module, AFE, and 6 sets of LED light sources. The Image Sensor Shading Correction unit can provide accurate shading correction for each sensor element on the CIS module according to different light sources. The built-in small DSP can provide information such as the minimum, maximum, average, boundary, and histogram of each scan line. Data output is supported through two ports: External Memory Interface (EMIF) and Video Processing Front-End (VPFE). The internal registers can be programmed through a 2-wire I²C or 3/4-wire SPI interface.

In addition to meeting the future demand for high-speed two-sided CIS module digital front-end processing, the HT82V70 solves the inconvenience of having to redesign FPGA when modifying timing through register configuration and internal functions. This offers unprecedented convenience to customers and speeds up the rapid development of terminal products. The HT82V70 uses a 100-pin LQFP package, which can effectively reduce PCB complexity and is the best choice for high-speed two-sided CIS module digital front-end processors that replace FPGAs.
